Explore the Kāpiti Coast Art Trail

Every November for more than 20 years, the Kāpiti Coast Art Trail has surprised and delighted visitors, inviting you to explore a wonderland of artist studios, galleries and shared spaces.

Create a self-guided tour of discovery around the beautiful Kāpiti Coast, weaving your way through coastal gardens and arty enclaves that will satisfy you with something special at each stop.

Be welcomed by the artist in their studio and indulge in a feast of colour and texture. Take home treasured art pieces that fill your soul and inspire you.

Bring a friend. Escape for the weekend.

Wonder awaits…

Nestled between the mighty Tararua Ranges in the east, and 40 km of coastline on the west lies the relatively undiscovered Kāpiti Coast. Less than 60 minutes' drive from Wellington, the Coast is a nature lovers' haven with full access to beaches, fantastic swimming, a marine reserve, many kilometres of tracks and trails for walking, cycling and horse-riding and of course the must-visit Kapiti Island.

This self-guided trail sees artists throw open their studio doors and invite people in to see not only the works they have available to purchase but also the magic that goes into creating each unique piece. Every year sees a number of new artists as well as many returning artists - in a delightful combination of both relatively unknown artists and also some globally recognised names.

The unique opportunity to visit artists-in-studio allows art lovers to really connect with the artists - an experience that adds meaning and depth to the art-artist-consumer relationship. It is this personal connection and the chance to choose your own journey that sees visitors returning to the Kāpiti Arts Trail year after year.
