Full Event Guide
There's always something happening on the Kāpiti Coast. Here's your guide to events that you won't want to miss!
J S Bach: The Brandenburg Concertos
The Amici Ensemble, led by Donald Armstrong, presents a rare chance to hear all of Bach’s legendary Brandenburg Concertos. The opportunity to hear all six concertos in one performance is very rare. Twenty musicians, mostly NZSO players plus other top New Zealand artists, will gather to present this amazing music in a concert packed with abundant colour and variety.
The concertos are in the front rank of the masterpieces of Western music and are Bach’s best-known and most often performed works. Bach brings together the widest possible combination of instruments, with different soloists for each concerto, combining them in daring partnerships with a wide range of moods and structures, and frequently demanding virtuoso performances from the soloists.

Argentine Tango Class - Kapiti Coast
Open level - beginners welcome anytime.
Bring your partner, your friends, workmates, and acquaintances. Or come on your own. During the class, together, we will build a safe and encouraging environment to help you connect with the music, the partner, and the floor and eventually make your way to your own tango.
Mark will introduce you to the fundamentals of Argentine Tango, tango history and urban legends. The lessons will teach you how to walk the tango and how to turn, which is technically all you need in order to dance. There will be some anxious moments no doubt and some good laughs too.
The tango is a social dance so we’ll be swapping partners regularly anyway – unless you don’t want to of course, that is good too.
Bring smooth-soled shoes. Leather or suede is ideal. Or some old socks, either on your feet or over your shoes! Comfy clothes you can move in are good.
