Held annually in February, the FREE Ōtaki Kite Festival is a fantastic weekend of family fun, market stalls & entertainment on Ōtaki beach – jewel of the Kāpiti Coast.

18th & 19th February 2023
Spend the day on the beautiful Ōtaki Beach marvelling at the HUGE kites that come from around the country for this iconic Kāpiti event. You are welcome to join in the fun by bringing your own kites to fly, or purchase a classic kite from the stall.
Enjoy a picnic or grab some food from the variety of food carts and fundraising stalls then settle in on the grass to enjoy the on-stage entertainment. Make sure you save room for ice cream! Available from one of the food carts, or you could go old school with a rolled ice cream from the dairy on the corner.
Getting too hot? Ōtaki Surf Lifesaving Club will have its flags set up and lifeguards on duty.
